According to the National Geographic Institute in Spain, the earthquake was felt with intensity II and III in multiple municipalities across Seville, Cádiz, Málaga, Huelva, Jaén and Córdoba. In Seville province, the affected municipalities included Alcalá de Guadaíra, Guillena, San Juan de Aznalfarache, Bormujos, Carmona, Mairena del Aljarafe, Dos Hermanas and Seville city.
In Cádiz, residents in Algeciras, Los Barrios and San Roque reported experiencing the tremor. In Málaga, it was noted in Estepona, Fuengirola and Malaga city, while in Huelva, it was detected in Lepe and the provincial capital. The quake also reached Linares in Jaén and Córdoba city.
The unified emergency service 112 Andalucía received five calls from concerned citizens following the event, four from the province of Seville – two in the capital, one in Mairena del Alcor and another in Mairena del Aljarafe – and one from Huelva, in Bollullos Par del Condado.
In September 2023, Morocco’s deadliest earthquake since 1960 – registering 6.8 on the Richter scale – killed more than 2,900 people and damaged vital infrastructure south of Marrakech.
Authorities continue to monitor seismic activity in the region, although no further significant tremors have been reported since the event.
