ARCHIVED - Woman almost drowned saving her dog from irrigation channel in Murcia
Fortunately the story had a happy ending
It could so easily have been a tragic tale of the love between a dog owner and her beloved four legged friend, but fortunately for the young woman concerned, officers from the La Raya barracks of the Murcia city local police were on routine patrol in the Nonduermas area, and heard her shouting for help after jumping into an irrigation channel to save her dog.
The dog had slipped into the La Dava canal, and was unable to get out, and neither was the owner who jumped in herself to try and rescue her dog. Police found the two of them trapped in the v-shaped channel, unable to climb up the steep sides.
Both dog and owner were successfully pulled out with the aid of a rope and neither are the worse for wear.
