ARCHIVED - Firemen called in to cut stray cat out of a water pipe in Murcia
The mewling feline had somehow become wedged in the pipe
Silly little story but it shows the type of day to day jobs our firefighters are called out to help with; on this occasion a stray cat had managed to become wedged in the drainage tube of a waterway in the outlying district of Los Garres in Murcia and after police had exhausted all other options, the municipal firemen were called to cut the mewling moggie out of the water pipe.
Having been released, it was handed over to Zoonosis Murcia, the municipal installations for captured stray and unwanted animals in the Murcia municipality, where all attempts will be made to find it a permanent home, preferably somewhere without open water pipes!
At the moment, these installations, along with those of many other pounds, are overwhelmed with animals looking for a home as laws passed in the region last year prevent the unnecesary euthanasia of unwanted strays, so if you're for a pet to share your life and live near to Murcia City, google Zoonosis Murcia for contact details.
